Iyall Wahawa was a Lower Cowlitz Indian. Iyall Wahawa's wife, Margaret, was Chief Leschi's sister. In keeping with tribal tradition, his son, Frank, took his father's first name for his last. Frank was born near Toledo, Washington and raised by his uncle, Atwin Stokum who was chief of the Cowlitz Tribe. From a 1933 article, "Meet the Neighbors." He also served as a Shaker leader.
