Obituary: Shirley Stewart Robins, age 88, of Orem, Utah passed away on April 12th, 2024 at Covington Assisted Living in Orem, Utah. She was born March 19, 1936 to George and Ruth Stewart in Pocatello, Idaho and grew up on a ranch in Arbon Valley, Idaho. Following her graduation from high school, she attended Colorado Women's College on scholarship where she graduated with an Associates degree. It was in Colorado that she met and married Capt. Merien Lamon Robins, serving in the US Army, later to become a pediatric dentist. They were married in 1958 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to Oakland and then Livermore, California where they established their family of five children. The family moved to Orem, UT in 1981 where she continued to support her husband and family as a wife and mother. Shirley dutifully served her church and community in many capacities as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as a political supporter for the Republican Party. She also served an LDS mission with her husband in the Philippines. Shirley and Merien were happily married for 59 years.


Shirley is survived by her brother, Gene A. Stewart, and her children, Serena Wixom (Clyde), Lamona Fullmer (Fred), Florece Noring (Rik), Richmond Robins, and Deirdre Rand; as well as 18 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.


She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Merien L. Robins, her sister, Georgia R. Imhoff; and her grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Whittle. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, 6:00-8:00 pm at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Ave., Provo. Friends and family are invited to attend her graduation of life ceremony (funeral), April 26, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 500 S. 600 W., Orem, at 11:00 am. There will be a viewing prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am.
