Vicki Eileen (Housley) Hudson, a devoted wife, mother, artist, and nature enthusiast, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, in Edgewood, NM, at the age of 69. Born on August 17 1955, in Troy, Michigan, Vicki brought creativity, strength, and generosity to all who knew her. She was the daughter of Frank and Irene Housley and grew up with a houseful of siblings, Evelyn, Franklin, and Brenda. Vicki's life was defined by her deep connection to nature, her artistic spirit, and her appreciation of Indigenous culture.
Vicki was a talented jewelry maker and recycled metal sculpture artist. She found inspiration in nature and loved gardening, hiking, exploring the outdoors, reading, and creating land art that reflected her connection to the environment.
She is survived by her loving husband of eight years, Richard Miller; her three children, Joshua Hudson (Casey), Nola Hudson-Paschal (Brad), and Jessica Hudson (Bob); and her cherishe grandchildren, Jaycie, Garret, Ayden, Bree, Raelynn, Roland, Emrys, Quinn, Avery, and Avinles Vicki was also the proud great-grandmother of Beckett and Clara. She is lovingly remembere by her siblings, Evelyn Reese, Franklin Housley, and Brenda Schafer, as well as many nieces an nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Hudson, and her parents, Fran and Irene Housley. Vicki's legacy of love and resilience honors their memory.
A graveside funeral service was held on November 29 at 2:00 PM at La Puerta National Burial Ground. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Vicki's memory to Native Hope at nativehope.org. This organization, dedicated to supporting families of missing and murdered Indigenous women (MMIW), was a cause dear to Vicki's heart.
