Samuel "Sammy" Lee Wilkerson, 47, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019. He was born on August 4, 1971 in Houston to Samuel Henry Wilkerson and Linda Moss Wilkerson. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service as an air traffic controller. He served his country in Desert Storm and Iraq. He had worked as a air traffic control manager of Hawkins Field in Jackson, MS
He leaves behind his wife, Galyn Wilkerson of Flora; his daughters, Brenda Wilkerson, Destiny Wilkerson, and Karen Wilkerson of all of Houlka; his son, A.J. Medina of Flora; his sister, Michelle (Randy) Clair of Houlka; his grandchildren, Adalynn Wilkerson, Julian Lopez, and Richard Wilkerson; nieces and nephews, Channing Clair, Hope (Jake) Wingo, Josh Clair, Hannah Brassfield and Brooklynn Clair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy and Linda Wilkerson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Brother Greg Moss and Brother Linn Hughes officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 at Southern Funeral Chapel.
