The top book on Harry Snow's remarkable headstone is inscribed with a phrase from Robert Green Ingersoll's (1833-1899) famous oration, "At His Brother's Grave, " which Mr Ingersoll composed for his brother's early death.
"Yet, after all, it may be best, just in the happiest, sunniest hour of all the voyage, while eager winds are kissing every sail, to dash against the unseen rock, and in an instant hear the billows roar above a sunken ship."
The famous speech was likely read at Harry's funeral, which was held with full military honors. It was a fitting, heartbreaking tribute to Harry Russell Snow; it remains a touching insight for us today.

Gravesite Details
Harry's father, Henry Knight Snow, is buried in this plot without a headstone. His grandmother, Lucy Knight Snow, and mother, Mary A Snow, are likely also buried here with their beloved Harry. May they Rest In Peace.
