Mrs. Smith was born on June 25, 1919 in Holt county, Mo. to Jacob and Rosa Rutchman Schneiter. She was a lifelong resident of Troy and was a housewife here. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith was married to John Marvin Smith in Troy on April 9, 1938. He died in 1973. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bernard in 1963; and one brother, Fred Schneiter.
Survivors include seven sons, John E. Smith, Thomas Smith, Paul Smith, Richard Smith, John M. Smith Jr., Sherman and Harry Smith, all of Troy; two daughters, Mary Agnes Murphy, Jamesport, Mo. and Rosanna Guy, St. Joseph, Mo.; one sister, Agnes Cluck, Highland; 26 grand-children; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 17 at the First Baptist Church in Troy under the direction of the Rev. Leroy Davis and Donald Harter. Pallbearers were Bill Murphy, Donnie Murphy, David Guy, Michael Guy, Justin Smith, Corey Smith, Scott Smith and B.J. Smith.
Burial was in Fanning Cemetery in Fanning. Harman-Rhode Funeral Home in Troy was in charge of the arrangements.
