When William Henry Day was born on 21 May 1884, in Austin, Travis, Texas, his father, Col. Charles Perry Day, was 44 and his mother, Nancy Ann Rowden, was 33. He was their fifth child out of seven.
He lived in Crockett, Texas in 1900. In 1930 he was living in El Monte, Los Angeles, California with his wife Elizabeth and his 9 year old son Charles R. Day. He worked as a laborer in a stockyard.
He died on 28 January 1940, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 55. Cause of death was bowel obstruction.
