Following in his father's footsteps, Skooby joined the Boyle Heights based Latino gang Evergreen 13, and became a drug dealer. His natural leadership skills led him to become a shot caller for the gang. Under his lead the gang was able to make money off of the flourishing drug trade business, and use the funds to arm themselves.
On the night of December 12 1998, Skooby was shot and killed in an ambush by a member of the rival gang, K.A.M (Krazy ass Mexicans). He was just one week shy of his 24th birthday, and left behind two toddler aged sons. His burial service was held 10 days later, and was shown on Fox News.
