Josephine Ann "Jo Ann" Oubre Huard passed peacefully on December 2, 2023, just hours before her 91 birthday. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her love of gardening and her love of family and friends. Jo Ann was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on December 3, 1932, to Whitney and Amy Oubre. She attended Bishop Byrne High School and was a loving mother to her four children, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. In her later years, she married Claude Huard. They enjoyed a vibrant life of retirement in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where they were active in the Elks Lodge. Jo Ann lived her life to the fullest. She learned to paint and play the clarinet after retirement. Additionally, she served on the welcome committee for her Hot Springs community, was active in her Episcopalian Church and maintained a beautifully landscaped yard. Upon the death of her beloved husband in 2015, Jo Ann returned to Texas to be near to her children.
She is survived by her sister, Phylis Oubre Dunn and husband, Roy, of Bridge City, Texas; daughters, Diane Braquet Bertrand and husband, Roland, of LaBelle, Texas; Melissa Braquet Womble and husband, Bobby, of New Braunfels, Texas; and Brenda Braquet Wilber and husband, Scott, of Hamshire, Texas; and her son, John Kyle Braquet and wife, Belinda, of Willis, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Whitney Oubre and Amy Decuir Oubre and husbands, Calvin Braquet, Buddy Wilber, James Brabham and Claude Huard.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
