Elbert Bascom "Papaw" Morgan, 65, of Rogersville, went to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior Saturday, June 7, 2008, at UT Hospital following a very brief illness. He was born July 27, 1942, in Rogersville. He was a retired self employed and commercial truck driver. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he loved life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and loved everyone. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of North Fork Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elbert Benjamin and Maude Baker Morgan; step mother, Stella Morgan and four sisters. Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Peggy (Mowell) Morgan of the home; son, Matthew Scott Morgan of Rogersville; daughter, Penny (Morgan) Hatchett and husband Shawn of Rogersville; grandchildren, Crystal Luster, Andrea Morgan, Brodie Morgan, Dillon Morgan, Michael Hatchett, Colleen Hatchett all of Rogersville; brother, Roy and sister, Hazel; sister-in-law, Nita (Mowell) Small; He is also survived by many other family members and friends who held a special place in his heart. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Alan Payne officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Mowell Cemetery.
