Richard Rogers Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Damon Rogers, who left this world far too soon on February 25, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on December 23, 1968 to Phyllis Wood on a U.S. military base in Germany, he was then adopted by David and Marie Rogers. Damon - as he was known to family and friends - lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love. Growing up between Germany and Augusta GA, he embraced both cultures and carried those experiences with him throughout his life.
Damon proudly served in the U.S. Army. Stationed in Monterey CA, he was assigned to study at the Defense Language Institute where he became a Foreign Language Specialist. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Damon attended Monterey Institute of International Studies, where he graduated with a Master's Degree in International Business.
It was during a night out with coworkers that Damon met Rebeccah, the woman who would become his wife. Their bond quickly became one that others admired; a partnership filled with love, respect, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing 27 wonderful years together. During a family road trip to the East Coast, they stopped in Las Vegas and were married on July 4th, 2003 - a true reflection of the playful spirit that would always define their relationship.
Together, Damon and Rebeccah created a beautiful combined family with three wonderful children from their previous marriages: Shelbey (33), Shayne (31), and Kaitlyn (31). If you asked him what mattered most, he'd say without hesitation - family. Above all, Damon's heart belonged to his family and his friends-turned-family, creating an inviting environment for all with his warm and welcoming nature. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a great friend to many, and a loving uncle, brother and son.
His absence leaves a huge void, but his love, humor, and kindness will live on in the countless memories we cherish. He was selfless, funny, and had a way of making everyone feel like family. Words can't fully capture how deeply he'll be missed - but those lucky enough to know him will carry his spirit with them always.
Here's to Damon - a generous man who served with pride, loved with his whole heart, and brought joy to most everyone he met. He will be missed tremendously, but remembered always.
