Entertainer and Television Producer. Along with his younger brother Marty, he formed a television production duo who were responsible for numerous popular Saturday morning, youth oriented shows during the 1970s.
He was the son of Mary Yolas and Peter Yolas, a clock salesman who moved from Canada to Rhode Island, and then later to New York City.
Born Cydus (Sidney) Yolas to a family of Greek and Hungarian descent, he was raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He began his association with the entertainment industry as a puppeteer and later formed an act with his brother Moshopopoulos (Marty).
His brothers were Marty and Harry Krofft.
His break in Hollywood happened during the late 1960s, when they served as character designers for the Hanna-Barbera series The Banana Splits (1968 to 1970). This led to them becoming a household name beginning with H.R. Pufnstuf (1969 to 1970), The Bugaloos (1970 to 1971), Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (1973 to 1974) and Land of the Lost (1974 to 1976). In addition, they produced the prime time shows Donny & Marie (1975 to 1977) and Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters (1980 to 1982). During the course of their careers, they received numerous Emmy Award nominations, and were the recipient of an Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. The pair received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020, which is located at 6201 Hollywood Blvd.
