Hazel grew up outside of Hampton on the family farm. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1941, where she was named basketball queen while there. After graduation, Hazel did some clerical work in Grand Island for a short time.
She was united in marriage to John C. Condon on September 11, 1946 in Aurora.
John and Hazel began their life together on the family farm. In 1955, he and Hazel moved to Aurora where John worked at Condon Irrigation & Well Drilling Company. He then became a Modern Woodmen of America agent, obtained a realtor's license and in 1977, he established Condon Real Estate and Insurance. Hazel helped John with his real estate and insurance business. John passed away on January 4, 2005.
Hazel was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ and worked on the election board for the county democratic committee. She enjoyed her walking group for many years. Hazel loved watching the birds at her feeders, both at home and then from her window at MCC, and owned many cardinal themed items.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her one son, James Lee Condon of Lincoln, daughter-in-law, Shirley A. Condon of Lincoln; granddaughter, Michelle (Bill) Fowler, great-granddaughter, Starr Fowler all of Lincoln; grandson, Mike Condon; two daughters, Sharon Ann (Condon) Nell of Satellite Beach, Florida, and Cynthia Sue (Condon) Powers of Kapolei, Hawaii; son-in-law, John Powers, grandson, Jason Powers, granddaughter, Kelly Powers all of Kapolei, Hawaii and Peaches, her beloved pet cat.
