Mr. Johnnie Leamon Smith, 64, of Estill Springs, Tenn. passed away on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008. He was a retired decorated US Army Vietnam veteran and was retired from the Williamson County Sheriff's Department of Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Smith and Ruth Wallace Smith; wife, Amelia Elizabeth Smith; and son, Henry Leamon Smith. Survivors included his wife of 15 years, Phyllis W. Smith of Estill Springs; son, Jason and Rebecca Smith of Baker City, Ore.; daughters; Samille and Ivan Thurber and Theresa Gray both of Fairview, Tenn.; brother, James Smith of Muncie, Ind.; and sisters, Marie and Charles Claywell of Caneyville, Ky. and Ruth and Frank Curtis of Muncie, Ind. Four grandchildren also survive. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Williamson County Sheriff's Department of Tennessee, grandchildren and friends.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at 12 p.m., in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockmart. Williamson Memorial Funeral Home of Franklin County, Tenn. had in charge of the funeral arrangements. This announcement is made on behalf of the family by the Freeman Harris Funeral Home.
