Shorty left this life on the 28th day of February 1982 in the Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center in Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma and was laid to rest in the Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, Osage County, Oklahoma,

Eldridge Shurdon "Shorty" Alsup, 67. Barnsdall area resident since 1935. died at 4:13 a.m. Sunday in the Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center following a three weeks illness." Funeral services for Alsup will be held at 2p.m. ,Wednesday in the sanctuary of the Barnsdall First Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Elmo Meloy will be the officiant. Committal prayers and interment will be directed' in ..the Ethel Reece Cemetery by The Barnsdall Funeral Service.

Alsup was born Oct. 11, 1914. near Dora in Ozark County, Mo. He was' the son of the late Polly Workman

Alsup and,Shurdon Alsup. He was reared and received his education in the Dora community schools and worked in farming until he moved to Barnsdall in 1935. He and the forme'r Ethel L'.Javine were, married in

Bartlesville on Nov. '2, 1935, and they made their first home in 'Barnsdall. He was employee of the Great Lakes Pipeline Co. in 1939 and', joined the Bareco Division' of the Petrolite Chemical' Corp. in, Barnsdall in 1943, During World War II', Alsup enlisted in the Navy 'on.Feb.. 20. 1944. and following his honorable discharge on Dec. 14. 1945,he' returned to Barnsdall to ,his work at the Bareco Barnsdall plant in January,

1946, where he remained active until he was retired in October, 1976. He was a former active member of the Webster Schrack American Legion _p()st" No. 227 and the Barnsdall VFW Post _No: 4769 . -Alsup will lie in state in the Barnsdall Funeral Home where friends may call for their visitation until he is removed to the

church for services on Wednesday afternoon. Surviving Alsup, in addition to his wife, Mrs. Ethel L. Alsup of the home in Barnsdall, are one son, Daryle Keith Alsup.
