Wiley was born in Kentucky the son of Meredith Patrick and Rebecca Williams. On June 8, 1856 in Floyd County Kentucky he married Mary "Polly" Huff the daughter of German Huff. Wiley was a Captain in the Civil War for the Union Army, Co I, 14th. Ky. Inf. Captain Wiley C. Patrick was seriously injured in his right hip from a Confederate bullet while leading the charge of Company I in a battle near Foster's House, Georgia. This injury was the cause of his death on June 2, 1864.
