Mr. Marvin "Bob" Edgar Colvard was the son of the late Russell Edgar and Ida McCall Colvard .in addition to his parents ,he was preceded in death by his step-mother,Irene McCall Colvard;two brothers,R.E."Scooter"Clark and Lester Colvard and one sister,Thelma"Tib"Colvard Abel.
Mr. Colvard was a member of Central Baptist Church in Whitnel for 50 years, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, deacon and usher. He served in the U.S.Navy during WWII from 1943-1945 in the South Pacific.He was shipping Supervisor at American & Efrid Mills and retired after 28 years of service. He later worked as a gate guard at Lenoir Mirrow.He was also abarber and worked for several local barbershops .In later years he gave haircuts to homebound relatives and friends. He also ran his own business hauling cardboard for local furniturs -related business.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years,Mrs. Bertha Laws Colvard of the home ;a daughter, Mrs.Francess Trexler and husband,Jim of Hudson;three brothers,Russell E."Bit"Colvard,Jr. and Tony Colvard both of Hudson and Mack Colvard of Campobello,S.C.; three sisters,Mrs.Grace Propst of Lenoir,Mrs.Rachel Duncan of Charlotte and Mrs. Barbara Irons of Shelby;two grandchildren,Mrs. Amy Trexler Mantay and husband,Kirk of Baltimore,Maryland and Preston Trexler of Hudson.
