Lindsay Gordon McDonald was born to parents Archibald McDonald and Sarah Jane Cadd in 1893.Lindsay was employed at the North Melbourne Railway Carriage and Wagon workshops before enlisting in the Army in 1914.Lindsay Gordon McDonald was 21years old and a Private in the 7th.Battalion,D Company,on the 25th.April 1915, the morning of the Gallipoli Landing. The 7th. Battalion was held back for the second wave of troops to storm the beaches that morning, landing at 5.30 AM at North Beach, Gallipoli. The 7th. Battalion came ashore at the extreme left of the landing area. Their landing craft had been under direct machine gun fire all the way to the beach, from the Turkish soldiers above. It is not known when Private Lindsay Gordon McDonald lost his life. Sometime from the landing on the 25th April to 2nd. May, 1915. Lindsay missed the first Roll Call, so probably died during the landing. He is buried at No.2 Outpost Cemetery and remembered on Special Memorial 40, with the epitaph reading "Dearly loved son of Mr. and Mrs. A.McDonald"
