Anna Maria Barrett was born in April of 1857 in New York. She married James A Hellems, around 1875. Their children were James, Mary, William, Ella, Emma, Annie, Alice, and Frank Hellems. Her husband died in 1892, while Anna was pregnant with their last child. The 1900 US Census of Erie County, New York, lists Anna as living on Van Renssalaer Street in Buffalo. Anna Barrett Hellems died from cardiac dilation, 10 May 1943, aged 85, in Buffalo, and was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, New York.
