CHRISTIAN EDMUND REINHARDT
Among those thousands of people who, back in the 1880s left the "old country" to better their condition in the new and freer land were many reliable young Germans, and one of these was Christ Reinhardt who proved himself to be a desirable type of citizen. Starting first as a dependable farm laborer, he afterwords made good use of the experience thus gained, for when he acquired a piece of practically unimproved land of his own he toiled and saved to clear the land and erect good farm buildings on it. His patient efforts and his ready helpfulness to neighbors won him the love and respect of his family and his fellowmen.
Christian Edmund Reinhardt was born February 6, 1858, in Germany where he spent the first twenty-five years of his life. Part of the time he helped his father in a brick yard.
He came to this country alone and settled in town Nelson where he worked for different farmers for eight years. In 1891 in town Nelson, he was married to Louisa Brunkow.
After their marriage they bought a place in Deer Creek where they farmed until 1914. They sold this place and moved onto Spring Creek bluff where Mr. Reinhardt lived until 1921, Mrs. Reinhardt having passed away October 7, 1914. He then moved to Alma where he resided until July 1937, when he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Edwin Jost at Nelson, where he remained until a few weeks ago. At the time of his death he was staying with his son, John, in Trout Creek.
He passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 27, of heart failure at the age of 82 years.
Surviving him are the following children: Edmund, of Alfred, ND, William, of Urne, John of town Nelson, Edna (Mrs. Edwin Jost), town Nelson, Ferdinand, of Prairie du Chien, and nine grandchildren. A daughter Tillie died April 1, 1928 at the age of twenty-two years and an infant child died in 1893.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 30,. at the Nelson cemetery. The pallbearers were M.C. Thoeny, Fred Ristow, John Timm, Christ Jost, Paul Rall and Wm. Brunkow Sr.

Christ's death record in Buffalo County says that he died Nov 27, 1940 (so gravestone is wrong?) and died of coronary thrombosis. Parents, according to his marriage record to Louisa, were George & Christina Reinhardt of Schwarzbach. His grandmother, Barbara Fabig Reinhardt is also buried in Nelson.
