Married (1) Jane F. Tilley, Jan. 18, 1856; 2 children; (2) Beasha E. Thompson, Feb. 1, 1882; 2 daus., 3 sons.

Notes from Laura Dean Ramsay:
BL Dean (and family) and his father Charles Dean came down from Georgia to Alabama following the Alabama gold rush in the mid 1800s -- not to be miners, but to be merchants. He had amassed enough money and land for his widow to raise and college educate 5 children in the 1800s.

BL Dean was mayor of Alexander City twice, before he was elected to the Alabama State Legislature (BL died before he was able to serve.)

The story surrounding his death written by his contemporaries who were with him at the time states that while he was walking two blocks home for lunch from downtown he was stricken and fell to the ground (heart attack or stroke), and the men he was conversing with took him home, and shortly after returning home he died.
