William J. Farrell, 76, Tolna, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Aneta (N.D.) Parkview Health Center, where he had lived since January. William J. Farrell was born Oct. 27, 1923, the son of Richard and Margaret (Volbrect) Farrell, in New Rockford, N.D. He was raised by Magnus and Malene Rismon. He grew up and attended school in the Tolna area and graduated from high school in California. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Anna Sonderby on Jan. 2, 1947, in Tolna. They lived and farmed near Tolna. In 1953, they moved to Torrance, Calif., where he worked for North American Aircraft Co. In June 1998, they returned to Tolna. He was preceded in death by his foster parents.
