He worked as an architect in Buffalo, NY, and was a president of the Western Association of Architects. He oversaw the integration of this organization with the new national organization - the American Institute of Architects c. 1890. He designed and helped build the Atheneum Hotel at the Chautauqua Institution. On 14 Mar 1876 he married Susie A. Pond in Farmington Twp, Warren Co, PA. They had 5 children, only 2 of whom had known children.
