She attended school at South Cache and following graduation she went to Pocatello, Idaho to earn her Idaho teaching certificate. She taught school in Bridge, Black Pine and Percemeria, Idaho.
She met her future husband Archibald Stokes while teaching school in Black Pine. They were married July 7, 1925, in Logan, Utah and later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
Aunt Hazel was a lovely lady. She was always smiling and always seemed very content with life. Her son Andy said, "She was a good mother." After their marriage they moved to Wellsville to take care of Hazel's grandfather and later went back to Black Pine.
Hazel and Arch had four children: Andrew, Frances, Carol and a son that was still born. She was active in the church and held many positions. Her Scottish grandfather taught her how to dance the Highland fling. She often delighted her grandchildren by sharing that talent. She had a lovely flower gardens and lived modestly. She was a delight to all.
Uncle Arch passed away August 27, 1980 in the Logan hospital of cancer. Aunt Hazel lived a few more years. She had surgery in the Brigham and was taken to the Pioneer nursing home and died April 23, 1982. They are both buried in the Wellsville Cemetery.
