JAMES MADISON FOSTER

J. M. Foster was born October 25th, 1833 in Highland county, Ohio, and died June 22, 1908 at his home in Lucas county, Iowa, aged seventy-four years, seven months and twenty days.

He was married March 1st, 1859 to Fanny Kay in Illinois. Twelve children were born to them, eight of whom died in infancy.

Coming to Lucas county with his family in 1871, he resided continuously on the farm where he died. His wife and four children, a brother and three sisters survive him. Among his decendents are thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Foster was ever a true man and held in highest esteem by all who knew him. The funeral services were held from the family home on the 23rd, conducted by the Rev. Nation Evans of the M. E. church and many came to pay a fitting tribute to his memory.
