Maggie Mae (nee Grogan) Coleman of Union, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010. She was born October 28, 1914, at Salem to the late Andrew and Ollie (nee Stephens)Grogan. Mrs. Coleman received her education in the Salem Public School system. She was a member of the Pacific Baptist Church. On November 11, 1933, she was united in marriage with Silas Coleman, who preceded her in death in 1974. This union was blessed with two sons and six daughters. Mrs. Coleman had many hobbies and interests that kept her busy even while raising her family and spending time with them. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, and she loved to crochet. Her grandchildren cherish the beautiful handmade afghans she made and presented to each one of them. Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband Silas, were four brothers, Ernst, Jeff, Clifford, and Ralph; three sisters, Birdie Summers, Fannie Welch, and Lucy Welch, and a granddaughter, Rita Coleman. Survivors include two sons, Carl Coleman and his wife Janice of Strafford, Ken Coleman and his wife Angie of Pacific; six daughters, Eula Monroe and her husband John of Union, Violet Schroeder and her husband Leo of Eureka, Mary Rogers and her husband Dave of New Haven, Kathy Hanneken and her husband Jim of St. Clair, Shirley Bowen and her husband Roy of Villa Ridge, and Loretta Boshers and her husband Thomas of Pulaski, TN.; twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and one on the way, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10, at the chapel of Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, Pacific, with the Reverend Stan Gibson officiating. Interment was in Sunset Cemetery, Pacific. The Coleman family was served by the staff of the Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, Pacific.
