NAVY REPORTS DEATH IN ACTION OF LOCAL MAN, CLAY B. JONES
Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Will Jones of Pontiac, Mich. formerly of Caruthersille, Mo., that their son, Clay B. Jones, US. Navy, has been killed in action. His wife, who lives at Dyersburg, Tenn., was informed of her husband's death and she notified his parents at Pontiac.
Clay B. was born at Caruthersville, Mo., on April 9, 1914. He attended school here and spent all of his life here until three years ago, when he went to Pontiac, Mich. Clay was a very quiet young man, but made friends with all with whom he came into contact.
Before entering the service on August 2, 1942, Seaman Jones was employed at the Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Co., at Pontiac, Mich.
Surviving, besides his wife and parents, are his daughter Patricia Kay; five sisters, Mrs. Glen E. Bartle and Mrs. George Cunningham Jr., of Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. Lee Morgan, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Edward Watts, Hayti, Mo.; and Mrs. Hendrix Chitwood of this city. Two brothers survive, Pfc. George E.
