Mr. Brown retired after 30 years as a cartographer with the Defense Mapping Agency in Washington, D.C. A former assistant scoutmaster with troop 1369, he was also an avid lighthouse collector. Mr. Brown enjoyed storytelling through cartoons and creating caricatures.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Helen Sue Brown, a son and daughter-law, Jay A. Brown II and Robin Brown of Marshall, VA. Mr. Brown is also survived by a brother, Homer A. Brown of Johnstown and two sisters; Doris E. Brown of Lancaster, PA and Darlene F. Printz of Leesburg, FL. He was the beloved grandfather of Tiffany Hanback of Gainesville, VA and Josie Brown of the home. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
