Ruby Cortines King, 86, of Nacogdoches passed away on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 peacefully in Nacogdoches. She now lives in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Ruby was born in Nacogdoches, TX on January 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Mitch and Victoria (Garcia) Cortines.
She started her seamstress career at the Mize Factory in Nacogdoches, Texas and contiuned her profession in Houston at L.G. Upholstery. She also was a faithful volunteer at Medical Center Hopsital and active in the Ladies Auxiallary there.
Ruby is survived by a son, Donald and his wife Debbie King of Nacogdoches, Texas.
She is also survived by 3 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Ruby is also survived by one sister, Louise Perry of LaMarque, Texas. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Martin King, Jr., son, Ronald Gene King, brothers, Tony Cortines, Lee Cortines and Johnnie Cortines, she was also preceded in death by her sisters Dela Luna, Dora Young, Laura Pena and Mary Y'Babro.
A Mass of Christian Burial wll be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 10:00 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor James E. Young officiating. Interment will follow ar Moral Cemetery in Nacogdoches. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Laird Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Rosary will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM. . Pallbearers will be Ronnie King, Jr., Steve Gilcrease, Scott Frost, Jimmy Railey, Anthony Mader and Matthew Railey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Eugene Gilcrease, Thomas Gene Gilcrease, Dale Frost, Wade Pettiette and Steve Cortines.
