"North Jackson - Last Friday the sad news of the death of James W., second son of Jonas Ebert, a highly respected pioneer resident, was received. James Ebert was 47 years of age, and resided in Kentucky for the last 15 or 20 years, where he run a flouring and sawmill. Recently he went into Northern Georgia, where he had a contract of sawing a large lot of timber, while at work last week Wednesday, running at a high speed the saw flew into pieces, and a part of it struck him on the head, penetrating the brain and causing instant death. His remains were brought here Monday [24th], undertaker Stroup meeting them at the Warren Station. Funeral services were held in the German church and interment in the German cemetery, Rev. J. M. Kendig officiating. He leaves a widow, a daughter and two sons, aged 9 and 16 years respectively. He has a brother Eli of Youngstown, who works in the Erie R. R. shops; Nelson D., and engineer on the Erie R. R., William, a prosperous farmer in Newton Falls; also Alvin, a farmer of Paris, Portage Co.; David, who came from Kentucky last spring to take charge of his father's old homestead; and Frank, who is a large fruit grower and hardware dealer in California. Two married sisters are; Mrs. Robt. Russell of this place and Mrs. McCurley of Youngstown."
