Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of B.E. "Ed" Mudd of Lubbock from 3-5 p.m. this afternoon at the funeral home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at Wolfforth United Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis House officiating. Mr. Mudd died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at his residence.
Ed was born on July 24, 1935 in Pike County Missouri to B.E. and Francis (Branstetter) Mudd. After graduation from high school, Ed worked for the City of Vandalia, Western Electric, and Bell Telephone, which later became AT&T. He worked as an installer and later as an engineer. Ed married Wanda Deskin on September 2, 1961 in Gainesville, TX. They lived in Oklahoma from 1984 until 2007 when they moved to Lubbock. Ed retired on Dec. 31, 1989 from AT&T. After Ed retired, he continued to work as a private business consultant in telecommunications. Ed enjoyed bowling on a league with Wanda for many years. He was a manager of a men's softball team called The "Mudders." He was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing and anything that he could work on with his hands. Ed was a member of Wolfforth United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish Ed's memories are his wife, Wanda; son, Bryan Mudd and wife Sheri of Wolfforth; three grandchildren, Tanner, Peyton and Olivia Mudd; mother, Francis Mudd of Fenton, MO; brother, Billy Mudd of Arnold, MO; four uncles; three aunts; and niece, June, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ed was preceded in death by his father.
