BRIDGMAN -- Bessie M. Granke, 90, of Bridgman, passed away Friday, April 23, 1999, at Lee Home Care, Bridgman. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, at Boyd Funeral Home, Bridgman. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Chikaming Township.
Mrs. Granke was born April 2, 1909, in Bridgman. The former Bessie M. Hartline, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Erdman Granke; and by her second husband, Otto Schmidt.
Survivors include her three sons Ernest (Pat) Granke of Sawyer, Julius (Mary Jane) Granke of Benton Harbor, and Eugene Granke of Chicago; a sister, Ruth Tilly of Dowagiac; 17 grandchildren; and many great' grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Hartline of Cassopolis; and two other sisters; Carrie Patten and Virginia Grice, both of Niles. Mrs. Granke was also preceded in death by a son, Bert Granke, in 1989; and by a granddaughter, Rennea Sampson, in 1987." From The Herald-Palladium, April 25, 1999, page 18
