TUSCALOOSA | Ruby Knight Spell of Tuscaloosa died Monday, August 30, 2004 of natural causes at age 90. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many in the community.

Mrs. Spell was married to the late O.L. Spell for 49 years. She was an active community volunteer and served as a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She was also a registered nurse and practiced at the University of Alabama Student Health Center for more than 10 years.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Frank and Bell Spell, Tuscaloosa, AL and Paul and Cathy Spell, Austin, TX, four grandchildren, Frances Fisher, Palm Beach, FL., Frank Spell, Jr., Tuscaloosa, AL, and Allison and Anna Spell, Austin, TX., one great-grandson, Harrison Fisher, Palm Beach, FL., one sister, Julia Lindsey, Perry, GA., several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A graveside service was held a 10:00 am Thursday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
