Daniel Boon first married Mrs. Nancy Clark Moore on Jan. 1, 1800, in Buncombe Co., NC. She was the daughter of Beverly Clark and Cary Hicks. 1790 Wilkes Co., NC: She was the widow of Andrew Moore and had a son who did not survive. She died before 1810, in Warren Co., KY.
Daniel and Nancy had daughter, Mary Ann "Polly" Boone, born on Jan. 31, 1801, in Buncombe Co., NC. Her date of birth was recorded in her father's Bible. Mary married William Franklin McKinney, Sr. on Sep. 9, 1821, in Wayne Co., KY.
Daniel second married Elizabeth "Betsy" Durham on Saturday, Aug. 19, 1810, officiated by Rev. Edward Buckner IV, a Baptist Minister, at his home in Buncombe Co., NC. Their marriage bond was purchased in Buncombe, by John Durham and "Daniel Boone." Witnesses were Rev. Buckner, his wife Nancy, and brothers of the bride, James and John Durham.

Daniel and Elizabeth Boon owned a slave named Zilpha Boon. Zilpha "married a slave of William McKenzie, " who fathered her four children. (Martinsville Republican, p. 1, June 25, 1891) Zilpha and her children were given their freedom about 1844, when the Boons took her to Indiana. Daniel and Elizabeth promised Zilpha their farm, if she would continue to care for them until their deaths, which she did. See Zilpha Boon buried Heddings Road Chapel Cemetery, Spencer, Owen Co., IN.
Note: As a slave, Zilpha and her children were required by Kentucky law to retain her owner's surname.
It is assumed that Daniel died between 1848 and 1850, on his farm in Clay Township, Owen Co., IN. His burial location is unknown. Daniel Boon Farm Burial Site is not a formally recognized description.
