Evelyn Owen Bennett, 87, of 1182 Bennett Lane, Clover died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on Sept. 23, 1922, a daughter of the late John Hollins Owen and Beatrice Newbill Owen and was married to the late Cleon Thomas Bennett. She was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.
She is survived by one daughter, Faye B. Baker and husband Roy of Keysville; two grandsons, Michael Nichols and wife Kim, Mark Nichols and wife Teresa of Clover; one granddaughter, Crystal Nicholas Barton and husband Michael; six great-grandchildren, Emily Nichols, Carol Anne Nichols, Will Nichols, Reagan Barton, John Nichols and Thomas Nichols.
A funeral was held Saturday at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Sisk, Rev. W.D. Mills Jr. and Rev. Lee Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
