Memories of my great-grandfather:
Once I heard two of his grandchildren talking about him. One mentioned that he couldn't read or write but he could count money. Another said "If he had any money, he'd spend it on candy for the children." I remember him coming to visit when I was a very young child. It was a journey of many miles but he came on foot. He brought me a little bag of candy.
