HOLLY HILL - Mattie Floyd, 71, of 10th Street, who retired as a laundry attendant in Ormond Beach, died Friday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mrs. Floyd moved to this area in 1956 from her native Cordele, Ga. She enjoyed watching church on television and Westerns.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin and Delvix, both of Holly Hill, and Paul, Daytona Beach; a daughter, Princess Jamerson, Holly Hill; two brothers, Cecil, Holly Hill, and William, Houston; a sister, Edna Sampson, Ormond Beach; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Thompson, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Funeral service for Mattie Floyd, 71, 10th Street, Holly Hill, who died March 2, 2007, at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Church of Jesus, Ormond Beach, with Bishop C.R. Freeman, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Ormond Beach. Calling hours are Friday, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the church.
Mrs. Floyd was born May 8, 1935, in Cordele, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eldon and Laura Floyd. She moved to Ormond Beach in 1956 until her health failed and then she moved to Holly Hill to be with her daughter and grandchildren, who provided for her care. Mattie enjoyed working as a laundry attendant for many years. She also enjoyed watching church services and westerns on TV. She dedicated her free time to spending it with her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Princess Floyd; three sons, Delrix (Sarah) Floyd, and Kevin Floyd, both of Holly Hill, and Paul Floyd, Daytona Beach; one sister, Edna (Milton) Sampson; two brothers, William Floyd, Houston, Texas, and Cecil Floyd, Holly Hill; one brother-in-law, Freddie Smith, Oak Hill; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special cousin, Laura Bean (Shug); special friend of the family, Doris Williams; one godson, Terell Wilkerson-Nelson; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Herbert Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
