Clarence B. Kirkman, 74, Route 2, Springville, died at 8:30 a.m. today at his residence following an illness of two years. A native of Monroe County, Mr. Kirkman was born February 1, 1888 to James and Mary Sayre Kirkman. He was a retired Quarry worker.
Mr. Kirkman was united in marriage to Clara Wright on November 15, 1914, and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Lester of Oolitic; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Knootz of Kerrville, Texas, Mrs. Thelma Gosser, Joplin, Mo., Mrs. Hurstle (Bernice) Godsey of Springville and Mrs. Mavis Kimmel of Springville; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Kirkman of Springville, and Sherman of Dugger and one sister, Mrs. Martha Wilson of Springville.
A daughter preceded him in death.
He was a member of Pentecostal Church of Springville, was a veteran of World War One and was a member of the Quarry workers Union. Funeral services will be announced Tuesday by the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will be in the Springville Methodist Cemetery.
