Charles served in the United States Navy with the SEA BEES in the Solomon Islands during World War II with distinction and honor. He spent most of his working years as a farmer and as a welder for Platzer Ship Yard in Houston, Texas for 21 years. Charles enjoyed helping others, sitting on the porch at his lake house, reading, fishing and dancing with Ura Bee.
Charles was preceded in death by parents, J.A. and Winnie Rowland and a brother, Jim Rowland. He is survived by his wife, Ura Bee Rowland of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Nita Ware of El Paso, Texas and Sheryl Franco of Houston, Texas; his sister, Polly Burt of Mabank, Texas; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
