Gooding Area

Woman Passes

Gooding, Sept. 20 - Mrs. Cynthia Carlton, 82, a resident of the Gooding area for the past 35 years, died at her home Saturday after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Carlton was born Aug. 12, 1876, in eastern Colorado and when 18 years of age traveled to Oregon in a covered wagon with her family. She was married to Willis E. Carlton Nov. 27, 1906 [sic], in Oregon. They moved in 1913 to Tuttle where they engaged in farming.

From 1913 to 1941 they lived in Tuttle and then moved to Gooding. Mr. Carlton preceded her in death. She was a member of the Gooding Christian church and the Christian Ladies Aid society.

Survivors are two sons, Ebon Carlton and Otto W. Carlton, both Gooding; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel May Stoolfire, Milton-Freewater, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One son, two sisters and five brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson chapel with the Rev. Jack Foreman officiating. Concluding rites will be held in Elmwood cemetery.
