Daughter of the late Edward and Marie (nee Maher ) Van Reeth. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 56 years, Alvin Stewart. She is survived by her five sons, Alvin (Shirley), David (June), Phillip (Jane), Robert (Jennifer) and Larry (Julie); and brothers Eugene Van Reeth, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Philip Van Reeth, of Huntley, Illinois. She was grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and dear Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago and served in the Red Cross in the years following WWII on the Island of Okinawa. After returning to the States, she met and married the love of her life, Alvin. While raising her family, Shirley was an elementary school teacher for much of her life, teaching second grade at St. Michael's School in Wheaton, then at St. Isidore's in Bloomingdale. Later in life, she was a Judge in Kimberling City, Missouri. Always close to her church, Shirley served at many of the churches of which she was a member and will always be remembered at St. Michael's, site of her Funeral Mass.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 2nd, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., (1 blk. E. of Naperville Rd.) Wheaton. Funeral prayers Wednesday 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home, to St. Michael Church, Wheaton, Requiem Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Michael Cemetery.
