Chris, known to many as "Opus", was born Dec.2, 1968 and passed away on Aug. 16, 2009 at his home in Des Plaines, Illinois. He was raised in Lancaster,TX, where in 6th grade he discovered his 1st love..music. It was to shape the rest of his life. His journey went from the marching field at Lancaster High to The Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps. To East Texas University, getting a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in music education and a minor in education. From there to Kingsville to teach. From there to Weslaco, TX to teach and where he met & married the late Donna Scott-Chenault. From 1991-1995, he was the brass tech and the visual tech for the Lone Star Drum and Bugle Corps of San Antonio. In 1997 Zachary Daniel Chenault was born. Chris would say a "mini-me!" While living in the valley Chris became the Principal Tubist for the Valley Symphomy Orchestra for the next 8 years. After the passing of his wife in 2002 Chris and Zach remained in the valley until 2004. They moved to Illinois where on April 25, 2004 Chris and Zach married Kelly Lynn Van Dorn. While in Illinois, Chris formed the Jester Marching Concepts. He wrote drill..was the president and the CEO. Chris was a son, brother, grandson, uncle, husband, father..his favorite title, along with musician, friend, teacher, mentor and an amazing man with a devious smile and a hug that took all your worries away.
