Jacob Troutwine was born in Wurtenburg (sp), Germany, December 28, 1821. He was married to Christina Oswalt in 1846, and about 8 years later, he, along with his wife and 3 children, embarked for America. They lost one of the children on the trip. After an extended voyage of three months, they came west and settled in Franklin Township in 1854. His wife died about 15 years ago, since which time he has lived with his children. He died at the home of his daughter, Ola Brenner, near Arcanum, May 4.
