VENITA POMEROY
Services were Saturday in the Deer Lodge Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Darrell Losing officating for Venita Pomeroy, 60, who died last week in the Deer Lodge hospital.
Mrs. Pomeroy was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Melrose and was educated in Melrose and Butte. The family returned to Melrose and she married Bill Pomeroy in 1938. They followed construction around Montana for number of years, returning to Melrose after World War II. They moved to Garrison in 1944 and to Deer Lodge in 1961. Mrs. Pomeroy began a Bible class for wives of state prison inmates in 1979.
Survivrs include her husband, sons Billy of Libby, Phil and Vern of Spokane; daughters, Lorraine Watson of Butte, Loretta Christianson of Glasgow, and Judi Hansen of Deer Lodge; brothers, Lyle Vance of Deer Lodge and Clyde Vance of Bakersfield, Calif., sister, Montana Mihelich of Tacoma, 17 grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery and Beck Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials may be made to the Religious Activities Center at the prison, Box 7, Deer Lodge.
Pallbearers were Clyde Lewis, Norman Schultz, Gary Swant, Bob Inman, Phil Berg and Charleees Bauman."
