"Henry Canen, 72, died at the home of Mrs. Anna Canen, near Yellow Creek about 9:45 o'clock Thursday morning following an illness of nine weeks of complications. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Canen, born in Harrison township and lived there all of his life until nine weeks ago when he was taken to the home of Mrs. Anna Canen.
He was a member of the Mennonite church. His wife, Edith, died in 1891. He is survived by one son, Orville Canen, of Concord township, twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Canen, of Harrison township, and John Canen, of Elkhart.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in the Yellow Creek Mennonite church, the Rev. Frank Krieder and David Yoder officiating and burial made in the Yellow Creek cemetery." The Wakarusa Tribune 2 Apr 1931
