Pilot Officer Lorenzo Diaz Coupland who was killed 3rd November 1942 in America. The group consists of his war and defence medals in remains of grease proof packets, and correctly named casualty slip. Also present are some small RAF corporal and sergeant stripes, a Scottish cloth patch, an RAF tie and an American flag. As PO Coupland was killed in America, perhaps this flag was draped over his coffin? The tie is embroidered with the number 34 - I think this relates to the fact that Lorenzo was a Halton Apprentice and was in intake number 34 . born in Tierra Del Fuego, 22-2-20, killed on active service 3-11-42, interred in Montgomery, Alabama. The cwgc confirms that he is buried in Montgomery (Oakwood) cemetery in America and was the Son of Robert and Jane Coupland, of Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland...
