5th New York Artillery

ALDUS, JAMES.—Age, — years. Enrolled, September 14, 1862, at Sacketts Harbor; mustered in as first lieutenant, Co. B, Third Battalion, Black River Artillery, October 13,1862, to serve three years; which became Co. K, this regiment, December 31, 18612; resigned, February 14, 1863; commissioned first lieutenant, November 19, 1863, with rank from October 13,1862, original.

Mr James Aldous, an aged member of Marsh Post, GAR passed away at his home on the Bagdad road, Saturday morning, May 10. He suffered a shock of paralysis on Wednesday and never rallied form it to any extent.

Mr Aldous was born in Gouverneur in 1833. He has lived in Potsdam about twelve years, moving form here to New Hampshire, where he stayed only a short time. He returned to Potsdam last fall to his farm home where he died.

Funeral services were held at his home Tuesday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Rev FB Cowan officiating and interment was in Bayside cemetery
