Richard Calvin Smith married Sarah Elizabeth Cook of Mississippi.
To this union were 6 known children:

According to my Grandmother, her Father was a lawyer & a merchant, I really do not know as I have found no proof of this.
But my Grandmother told me that a man that owed her Father money for merchandise purchased on credit & could not pay for it later, came into the Smith home & shot her Father between the eyes & he fell to the floor & died.
My Grandmother said she never forgot the sad look of her Fathers blue eyes as he lay dying.
This was 1907, which left Sarah a Widow with 5 small children.
