The innumerable friends and acquaintances of William H. Wilcox, 311 Richmond avenue, were shocked this morning when they heard of his death which occurred at about 10 o'clock last night. The deceased had been a sufferer for some time from stomach trouble and in spite of an operation which, he recently underwent, he passed away last evening. He was thirty seven years old and is survived by a wife and one child. Mr. Wilcox was formerly a prominent young business man of South Ottumwa, but for the past year had been connected with his father-in-law W. S. Pumphrey, in the grocery business. He was always of a cheerful disposition and his loss will be mourned by many. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Willard Street Methodist Episcopal church, Rev. E. J. Shook, officiating. Pickwick lodge I. O. O. F., of which the deceased was a member will have charge of the funeral. The members are requested to meet in the hall tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. to assemble for the funeral. Interment will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.

William is the brother of Alvinza (Vinney), Mary, Cora, and twin sister, Elizabeth Alva.

William married Flo Pumphrey in Ottumwa, Iowa. They had one son Hubert Wilcox.
