Alice Maria Wills was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, 11 August 1840 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Habel, 1 April 1912, being at the time of her death 71 years, 7 months, and 20 days old.
She was married to John Peterson, 19 March 1860. She moved to Nebraska in 1887; her husband died 27 September of that same year. To this union nine children were born; two died in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. Ellen Krieling of
Fairfield, Mrs. Lillie Donaldson of Carleton, Mrs. Lulu Habel and Mrs. Katie Reagan of Hebron, Andrew Peterson of Carleton, Frank Peterson of Hebron, and Clarence Peterson of Shaw, Colorado.
She lived on her farm north of Carleton for the last twenty-two years and has been in poor health for some time. She was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Habel, two weeks ago, where she was stricken with pneumonia. She also leaves several grandchildren, brothers and sisters to mourn her loss.
The funeral was held from the house after which the body was taken to Belvidere Cemetery and laid beside her husband.
